HC frazier

Marc Frazier regularly publishes flash fiction and poetry, and he recently completed a memoir manuscript. At HippoCamp 2018, he will be leading a flash session titled, “Essay vs. Memoir.” We’re excited to hear him speak! In the meantime, we asked him a few questions about his upcoming participation in our writing conference.

HM: What are you most excited to share during your flash session?

MF: It is not difficult to publish chapters of your essay collection or memoir in literary journals both in print and online. I have published several chapters of my memoir manuscript Without in this manner.

Why do you love true stories?

I love true stories because they are true—or as true as human memory—and the willingness to be honest allowed.

Share a fun fact with us—something attendees may be surprised to know:

I am also a certified school improvement specialist.

Aside from preparing for HippoCamp 2018 (of course!), what are you working on? Any recent or upcoming projects/publications you can share?

I am looking for a publisher for my third full-length collection of poetry titled Willingly and for my memoir Without. I publish regularly, mostly online. Here are a few recent links:

Since you’ll also be attending the conference, what are you most looking forward to learning or doing when you’re not wearing your “speaker hat?”

I look forward to meeting other memoir and personal essay writers and meeting editors and others associated with the nonfiction publishing world, and attending sessions, of course.

We love introducing Lancaster to attendees. What are you looking forward to?

I have been to Amish country there, but never to Lancaster city. I am looking forward to checking it out and learning about its history.

Marc, thanks for sharing more about your session! Enjoy exploring Lancaster, and see you at the conference!
