Want to bridge this giant gap between writing and publishing? At HippoCamp, we want to make you feel confident and informed when you start reaching out to agents, publishing houses, editors, etc. The publishing world can be a bit confusing, even intimidating, so let us give you guidance to help you navigate it at HippoCamp: A Conference for Creative Nonfiction Writers.

Here are just a few sessions, workshops, or panels out of many that can help get you started:

Pre-conference Workshop A: Writing Your Memoir Proposal with Allison K Williams

In this pre-conference optional add-on workshop (now sold-out), Williams is going to tackle one of the hardest things to write: proposals. How are you supposed to adequately represent your book in just a few short paragraphs? And let’s not forget also presenting yourself (the author) to the agent and publishers. Good news is, Williams is here to help you “craft about 30% of a proposal for the book you’ve written or want to write, and leave with a template for the rest.”

Even if your book is not a memoir, this workshop is still highly beneficial as it will introduce you to the idea of and strategy behind writing a proposal.
