This session draws on six years of experience talking to the media in crisis situations to teach authors the principles of good press interviews and public speaking. Authors often write about harsh realities – bad relationships, addiction, crime, and so on – which can prompt tough, trip-wire questions from the press or audience members at a book reading. We’ll cover using real world examples how a corporation which finds itself in the midst of a crisis or controversy handles media scrutiny, press conferences, etc., and connect these lessons with how authors can speak publicly about the truths of their stories.
