Writers of creative nonfiction face the challenge of bringing to life on the page the interior and exterior landscapes of home – the smell of mothballs and the ticking clock in a faded sitting room, the incessant murmur of cicadas, or the heat emanating from the asphalt on the playground across the street.
We’ll look at examples from a wide range of memoirists and essayists to see how they convey their own sense of home in just a few sentences, and attendees will take away key questions and suggestions for making their own landscapes pop off the page.
