A variety of creative non-fiction mediums rely on facts. But the line between fact and fiction has become blurred in an age in which we can track down information on the internet – newspaper articles, academic journal articles, people. This session will focus on contemporary research skills – how to figure out if someone is who they claim to be, how to decipher fake news from real news, how to determine which biases a source may have. We’ll learn to tell the difference between fake and real news sites and evaluate our own fact-checking skills.
